Hello Neighbors!

I am pleased to announce my decision to run for re-election of Tax Collector of Economy Borough. I am proud to serve the residents of Economy Borough, and I would be honored to be your tax collector for another term.   This decision came after careful consideration of my qualifications and thoughtful conversation with family and friends.  

  Born in Sewickley, Pa., I have lived in Economy Borough for almost 40 years, the daughter of Alexander and Patricia Miller, grand- daughter of Homer and Margaret Wassum, and a member of my family’s 5th generation of Economy Borough residents. That family has instilled in me a love of this community, a desire to be of service to others, and an attitude of respect and appreciation for all people by rooting my upbringing in Christian values.

  In 1981 I graduated from Ambridge Area High School and went on to pursue higher education through the Community College of Beaver County [Associates Degree in General Studies] and Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania [Bachelor of Science in Human Resources and Master of Science in Organizational Leadership]. I later attended classes at Penn State, Beaver to receive my Real Estate License.

My career led me to Three Rivers Sales and Marketing/Advantage, where I gained experience in retail merchandising management, reconciliation of manufacturer accruals and bill payments for our clients, produced and followed budgets, created and tracked invoices as well as distributed payment information.  From there I went to Nielsen (the ratings people) where I conducted data analysis for delivery to our clients by using many proprietary software systems as well worked several years in database management.  Currently, at Hussey Copper, I conduct comprehensive data analysis of sales and financial trends for delivery to the sales staff and ownership group. I oversaw the financial workings of my church when I was president of my church council (Rehoboth Evangelical Lutheran Church). I volunteer my time with an educational based gardening association as well as I am a member of my parish council and many other committees and organizations in my church.

My education in real estate and previous work experience have given me a solid understanding of tax calculations, millage, assessed and market values, common level ratio, payment schedules and general understanding of accounting practices, budgets, and ledgers.  I  use this knowledge and experience, combined with my strong analytic and organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent inter- personal skills, to fulfill the office of Economy Borough Tax Collector with the integrity, exactness, and diligence to which the residents of Economy Borough are entitled.
